Cambodia and New Zealand Study New Project to Avoid Floods in Angkor Area

SIEM REAP: The Apsara Authority and a delegation from New Zealand met to discuss and study the management of natural resources in the Angkor area from 4-12 August 2022, in order to continue cooperation on projects post-Covid-19.

According to the Ministry of Culture, this project is important to help manage the ancient irrigation system in the Siem Reap-Angkor area more effectively, so that floods can be avoid, utilizing natural resources to develop communities and build capacity and human resources.

New Zealand has supported the implementation of three different phases of projects since 2009, including the Angkor Participatory Natural Resource Management & Livelihoods project from 2009 to 2013, and the Angkor Community Heritage and Economic Advancement project from 2014 to 2019.
